Calculating your current cost-per-print provides a starting point for your organization's overall print costs.
Cost per print is determined by the cost of the printer cartridge divide by estimated number of pages that the manufactures claims a particular cartridge will print. ln other words, each page you print costs something, in terms of the small amount of toner the printer distributes over the paper.
Additional factors that contributes to your true print costs are:
- Printer cost of acquisition, which may be a purchase price, lease or cost-per page agreement.
- Expenses on toner cartridge, paper and other print media, staples and more.
- Maintenance service, monthly service agreements or one-time maintenance charges.
- Time spent for employees to fix equipment, order supplies and scheduled maintenance.
- Printer lifecycle, depreciation plus the availability of new and better technology.
Gathering this information can be time consuming, but it is essential for understanding exactly what you pay for printing every month.
